Equipment

  • 1 small saucepan
  • 1 Sieve/strainer
  • 2 mugs
  • 1 kettle optional

Ingredients

  • 1 teabag black tea I chose Earl Grey
  • 2 cups almond milk or other dairy-free milk
  • 1.5 tablespoon lavender buds
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ tablespoon maple syrup

Optional

  • cinnamon

Instructions

  • Pour 1 cup (235ml) of boiled / hot water into a mug. Add the tea bag. Let steep for approx. 5 minutes. Then set aside to cool.
    1 teabag black tea
  • In the meantime, combine milk, lavender, vanilla & maple syrup in a small saucepan. Start on low heat and warm it up slowly until there is steam rising from the pan. Remove from heat. Stir well.
2 cups almond milk, 1.5 tablespoon lavender buds, 2 teaspoon vanilla extract, ½ tablespoon maple syrup
  • Add the tea you prepared earlier to your lavender milk mixture.
  • Pour the mixture through a sieve into two mugs. This will make sure no lavender buds remain in the final drink.
  • Serve with a small lavender sprig OR frothed milk on top. Simply use a milk frother or blender to froth the milk and spoon some on top
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired - it adds a lovely aroma! (optional)
    cinnamon

Notes

  • Adjust it to taste - you might prefer to make it sweeter or make the lavender flavor more/less intense.
  • It's normal for the drink to separate just a little. Simply stir it again before drinking.
  • Because this is meant to be a soothing tea you can drink before bed I recommend opting for decaf black tea (or other decaf tea).
  • Serve it piping hot.
  • You can use a custom amount of lavender according to your taste. Don't go overboard though! Too much lavender can make it taste a little soapy.
Extra creamy texture? Use some non-dairy creamer.
Sugar-free? Use stevia instead of maple syrup or sugar.
Ice cold? Add ice cubes if you prefer a refreshing cold variation.
