    Ingredients

These are the ingredients you’ll need to make a vegan tropical smoothie.

All ingredients needed to make a vegan tropical smoothie laid out on a flat surface.

    Ingredient Notes

Pineapple: I used a medium-sized pineapple. Scroll down for instructions on how to cut it.

Mango: I used frozen mango. Can be substituted for fresh.

Coconut water: Choose coconut water with no added sugar. This will ensure your smoothie is not too sweet.

Bananas: Wait until your bananas are perfectly ripe, with brown spots around the edges of the skin.

    Step-by-step Process

    1. Prepare your ingredients by cutting the pineapple into cubes and removing the skin from your ginger.
    2. First, pour coconut water into a blender. Add freshly squeezed orange juice.
    3. Add the remaining ingredients.
    4. Blend at high speed for 2-3 minutes until completely smooth.
    5. Adjust the thickness to taste - add more liquids if required.
    6. Serve immediately or keep refrigerated in an airtight container for later.

    How To Cut A Pineapple

If you're not super familiar with cutting pineapple, the task can seem intimidating. But don't worry, it's actually super easy to cut.

A collage of three images showing how to cut a pineapple.
    1. Cut off and discard the top.
    2. Remove all the skin, being careful not to cut too much into the fleshy inside.
    3. Chop up the inside into cubes.

That's it - so much easier than it looks!

    Expert Tips

A close-up overhead image of a yellow smoothie in a glass.

Add coconut water first - whenever you make a smoothie, remember to add liquids first. This will make sure the blade turns more easily.

Blend, blend, blend - I can't stress the importance of this enough. Make sure you blend your smoothie until there are no bits of fruit left. You'll want to let it blend for at least 2-3 minutes.

Customise to taste - you might prefer a thicker or a thinner smoothie depending on your personal taste. Don't be afraid to customise it.

Enjoy fresh - don't wait around, smoothies are best enjoyed fresh. Scroll down for instructions on how to store your smoothie.
